I’ll tell you about the 2019 UAZ Patriot in the Maximum configuration. Before that there were such cars: Hyundai Tucson 2.0 4WD and Skoda Fabia 1.4. The first impression when you get behind the wheel is a really huge car.
I’ll tell you about the salon right away. I liked it – yes, I liked it without amendments and barbs like: “For the creation of the domestic auto industry will go!”, Or “Well, at least something!”. The interior reminded me of Korean crossovers.
Review about UAZ patriot 2.7 (150 hp) 4 × 4 MT
The exterior of the car has become more advanced. I won’t say “wow!”, But it looks solid. The massive grille makes a nod to the titans of the global auto industry such as Infiniti and Mazda. But here I am more concerned about the problem of corrosion resistance. Experience shows that domestic cars cannot boast of such an advantage. Therefore, I will take preventive measures, I will cover all vulnerabilities with anticorrosive.
The technical equipment of the Patriot is impressive. The driver is assisted by the ESP system with imitation of locks, the mechanical block of the rear axle. There is a cruise control in the car, and parking sensors (installed in the front and rear), as well as a rear-view camera. Particular delight was caused by the presence of the function of assistance for starting the movement, if the car is standing on a mountain.
Comfort levels have literally skyrocketed as well. Attention! The Patriot has a cooled glove compartment, a heated multifunction steering wheel (this is generally an unthinkable plus) and an infotainment system. The front seats and rear seats, windshield and mirrors are also heated.
I think it is necessary to warn that the fuel tank neck of an SUV is of a non-standard configuration, therefore, when refueling, you need to choose the position of the pistol. Otherwise, fuel splashes will scatter in different directions.
The car is very tall, which is good, since it adds a lot of space and solidity, but not very good in terms of directional stability. But the problem is not critical, you just do not need to enter corners at high speed.
As for the dynamics, the UAZ Patriot is quite vigorous for its size. The suspension transmits the jumps when driving through a hole or speed bump. Therefore, to ensure a more comfortable ride, I recommend slowing down in front of obstacles.
For those who first sat behind the wheel of a Russian SUV, I advise you not to be intimidated by the whistle that appears when you release the clutch pedal. The reason is that the release bearing does not fit snugly enough against the clutch basket, and the whistle is a result of the rim rubbing against it. The whistle goes away when the linings are slightly erased, so you do not need to fly to the services under warranty – the service technicians will not help here, it has been checked for yourself.
Faced a problem – the tailgate opens and closes very tightly. Sometimes it wedges altogether. I read on the forums that the problem is eliminated by adjusting the lock. Otherwise, you will have to constantly push her with your shoulder. There is no such problem with door locks, but I think they should be adjusted.
As for the management, it did not live up to expectations in the good sense of the word. The negative that I heard did not come true. Off-roading for a car is not a problem, you just do not need to recklessly. The Patriot overcomes bumps without any problems at a speed of 80 km / h, and why more on a country road? Hence the stories appear that “a dull, uncontrollable trough that quickly breaks.” Chase a foreign car on a washed-out country road at high speed and what will be left of its suspension?
It’s also worth considering that the Patriot is a full-size frame SUV, not a refined crossover. In short, at medium speeds the car is controllable, easily overcomes all the “troubles” of domestic roads and directions (the so-called country roads). And he feels confident in the forest.
But there was also a fly in the ointment. This is an SUV paintwork. There can be no discounts here. Even for a Patriot, it is weak. After the first trip out of town, there were scratches on the bumper and doors. Unfortunately, this problem is common in many modern cars. The rest of the car rather pleasantly surprised than disappointed. While the mileage is small, I hope I will not get serious unforeseen problems during further operation.
