Audi Q4 E-tron Concept: The Harbinger Of The Brand’s New Electric Car

The March 2019 Geneva Motor Show was the place of the premiere of the conceptual crossover Audi Q4 e-tron, the commercial version of which should appear on the market at the end of the twentieth, becoming the fifth electric car of the German brand. In terms of design, the SUV has many common solutions with other electric models of Audi, while the Germans promise that the ready-to-release version will not differ much from the prototype.

The front of the Audi Q4 e-tron Concept has a massive silver radiator grille with many patterned horizontal strips. At the bottom of the angular bumper, the inscription “e-tron” is displayed, and large air intakes flaunt on its sides.

In addition, the SUV received narrow headlights, large-diameter rims, and large lamps with a complex pattern, which are combined with each other by a thin LED strip, catch the eye at the stern. On the rear bumper, there is a place for the luminous e-tron lettering, which can be seen above the massive diffuser.

The Audi Q4 e-tron concept boasts a spacious interior with four separate seats, thanks in large part to the lack of a traditional transmission tunnel. The brand’s specialists installed the latest version of the Virtual Cockpit digital dashboard here, as well as a 12.3-inch touchscreen entertainment system.

On the center console of the car there is a platform for wireless charging of mobile phones and there is a niche for storing various small things. Interestingly, the showcar has traditional side mirrors instead of popular among prototype cameras.

The overall length of the vehicle is 4,590 mm and the wheelbase is 2,770 mm. The crossover uses MacPherson struts at the front, and a multi-link design at the rear, both of which are complemented by adaptive dampers.

The Q4 e-tron is driven by two electric motors, which give a total of 301 hp, with 201 “horses” and 310 Nm being developed by the engine on the rear axle, while the performance of the unit at the front is 100 forces and 150 Nm of torque. The latter starts to work only in case of slipping, or if the electronics detects understeer or oversteer.

According to the Germans, the all-wheel drive electric car is capable of accelerating from zero to a hundred in 6.3 seconds, and its maximum speed is electronically limited to 180 km / h. The power reserve of the model can reach 450 km (according to the WLTP cycle), which became possible thanks to the 510 kg battery with a capacity of 82 kWh placed under the floor. It provides a low center of gravity and can be replenished to 80% in just half an hour using the fast charging station.
