The Bugatti Veyron hypercar, which was presented to the public in September 2004 at the Monaco Yacht Show (MYS), despite the fact that its pre-production model was already seen at the 2001 Geneva Motor Show, caused a sensation in the automotive markets all over the world.
All 150 hypercars for sale have found their owners for only 1,000,000 euros while still “at the stage of foundation”. Despite the high cost, the first production cars Bugatti Veyron EB16.4 in 2005 were immediately sold out, and began accepting orders for 2006.
Only citizens of those countries where there are Bugatti service centers could buy it. Company founder Ettore Bugatti and renowned racer Pierre Veyron could be proud of this hypercar.
Bugatti Veyron – four-wheel drive two-door coupe with overall dimensions, mm .: length – 4 462, width – 1 998, height – 1 159. The design of the Bugatti Veyron owes to the great Giorgetto Giugiaro, who received the Automotive Designer of the Century award in 1999. His creations include Maserati Spyder, Ford Mustang Giugiaro, Lamborghini Marco Polo and many different cars, but marked with the stamp of genius.
Bugatti Veyron – international car
Despite the fact that the car is assembled at a factory in the Alsatian city of Molsheim (France), its carbon fiber body is made by the Franco-Italian aircraft manufacturer ATR, the paint is German, the windshield is made in Finland, and the leather for the trim is made in Austria.
Under the hood of the Bugatti Veyron is a W-shaped 16-cylinder engine manufactured in Salzgitter (Germany). Its power is 1001 hp, maximum torque is 1,250 Nm at 2,200 – 5,500 rpm.
Paired with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission from Ricardo (England), it accelerates a car weighing 2,200 kg in just 2.5 seconds, and the top speed of the Bugatti Veyron is 407 km / h. Thus, Bugatti Veyron managed to break the McLaren F1 record, which had been firmly held for 12 years.
But the best achievement belongs to the modification of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport with a power unit with a capacity of 1,200 hp. On the track of the Volkswagen Group concern, on July 3, 2010, an official speed record was recorded – 431 km / h. True, the standard front tires 265-680 ZR 500A (99Y) and rear 365-710 ZR 540A (108Y) Michelin PAX System were then replaced with special ones.
By the way, the Boeing 757 plane flies only twice as fast, and in one of the Top Gear episodes the Bugatti Veyron would definitely overtake the fourth generation Euro Fighter (Eurofighter) if it could fly.
And the private Cessna 182S Skyline, on which James May and Richard Hamond competed with him, Jeremy Clarkson in the Bugatti Veyron still managed to get ahead on the way from Cuneo (Italy) to London. But he burned a lot of gasoline, because the fuel consumption of the Bugatti Veyron in the combined cycle is 24.1 l / 100 km, and in the city this figure reaches 40.4 l / 100 km.
To ensure that the rear spoiler that provides downforce does not slow down the Bugatti Veyron at speeds above 220 km / h, it can be manually disabled with a special Top Speed key and switch from “transport” mode to “high speed”, while the ground clearance is reduced from 100 to 65 mm. The Bugatti Veyron holds the road worse in Top Speed mode, but goes faster.
The braking distance from 100 – 0 km / h Bugatti Veyron due to the unique ventilated carbon ceramic brakes from AP Racing (UK), which are more expensive than the entire VW Golf, is 31.4 meters. And even if the driver decides to let go of the steering wheel, the Bugatti Veyron will not move from a straight line.
Bugatti Veyron interior
It makes no sense to describe the interior of this hypercar. Everything here speaks for itself. The dashboard, as befits a sports car, is easy to read, all controls are within easy reach and the driver is not distracted from the road.
Navigation data is displayed in the rear-view mirror, and the high-end features are complemented by a Dieter Burmester audio system with a power of 400 watts.
In 2011, the Bugatti Veyron was discontinued. A total of 300 copies were made, and the last of them sold for $ 1.7 million in June 2011. In 2009, the open version of the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport appeared on the market, the price of which is $ 285 thousand more than the coupe.
