Changed Yeti To Volkswagen Tiguan

I changed the front-wheel drive Skoda Yeti 2014 for a trade-in to Tiguan, I was specifically looking for a complete set with all-wheel drive and a turbocharged engine. The 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan with a 1.4 turbo engine fit perfectly. After running 5,000 km I am sharing my impressions.

In appearance, I like everything in Tiguan: reliable paintwork, stylish look, good optics. Among the shortcomings, I note the inconvenient control of the rear wiper. Matrix head light is something fantastic – the system cuts out a rectangle of oncoming cars from the high beam beam, thanks to which it does not blind drivers and perfectly illuminates the right side of the road and the length of the track.

I like almost everything in the cabin, I looked at the not very rich set and found only one flaw – the heating of the cabin must be directed strictly to the feet, they are constantly freezing in winter.

A huge trunk, absolutely everything fits, the seats fold right out of the trunk, there are sockets, hooks, a large number of niches for small things, shelves, etc.

A radio tape recorder of the previous generation, but I’m not a music lover, so the sound is enough for me. I liked the driver’s seat – it is adjustable at any angle, there is a lumbar support and a good headrest. I drove through the day, my neck was not numb, my back was not worth a stake. I do not like that there is no illumination of thresholds, heating of the rear seats, navigation.

Among all the equipment, I will separately note the excellent operation of the collision avoidance system, the car slows down for the driver if it does not brake in time after the warning buzzer and a huge warning sign on the dashboard.

According to the passport, acceleration to “hundreds” in 9.8 seconds – corresponds. The crossover holds the track easily, the acceleration dynamics are excellent. I ran the car in different modes, the speed of 170-180 km / h is gaining without problems and it is felt that the unit still has a power reserve.

High torque is available from minimum revs, so it is easy to overtake the Tiguan. Informative steering wheel, ideal (as for me) suspension response to the slightest touch of the steering wheel.

Fuel consumption is kept at around 10 liters in the city, 7-8 – on the highway. Despite numerous assurances from the manufacturer that the car does not need to be run in, I affirm that it is necessary to run in the engine and the engine must not be spinned to maximum speed for the first thousand.

On Tiguan, the software restriction works – the first 850 kilometers the engine worked hard, after the first thousand the engine began to work much faster. In general, I am very pleased with the car, I also appreciated the electronic PTS – it is convenient, the history of the car is completely transparent.
