At the November 2019 Guangzhou Auto Show, the Venucia brand, formed by Nissan and Dongfeng, unveiled the Star crossover. The car has a rather strict design of the “face” with angular side sections of the bumper and a blackened fine-mesh radiator grille. The latter received a chrome edging with a V-shaped notch at the top, which is a kind of reference to the name of the Chinese brand.
The car received large wheel arches, and there are ventilation slots on the front fenders. The lanterns at the stern visually represent a narrow strip with “fangs” along the edges, and on the spoiler-visor there is again a V-shaped notch.
While the public was shown the pre-production version of the Venucia Star, however, judging by the leaked patent images, the commercial version of the crossover will differ from it only in certain decorative elements.
Inside the car, there is a three-spoke steering wheel with a rim truncated at the bottom, a 12.3-inch digital tidy and a vertically located 15.6-inch multimedia system tablet, which takes up almost the entire center console. In addition, the interior features diamond stitching on the door panels and seats.
In terms of dimensions, the Venucia Star 2020 reaches 4,691, 1,905 and 1,694 mm in length, width and height, respectively, and the distance between the axles of the model is 2,756 millimeters. Interestingly, the crossover was the first model of a Chinese brand built on a platform designed specifically for this brand.
Venucia’s own “bogie” is designed for a transverse engine and has a rear multi-link suspension. It is highly versatile, since it does not exclude the use of four-wheel drive and is suitable for use in hybrid installations.
Crossover Venusia Star itself is a so-called “soft” hybrid. Its powerplant consists of a 190 hp 1.5-liter turbo engine, aided by a 48-volt electrical superstructure. The latter consists of a starter generator and a small lithium-ion battery.
The electric motor helps the internal combustion engine in the first seconds of acceleration, and also allows you to quickly start the engine as part of the start-stop system. When braking, it switches to generator mode, allowing the battery to be replenished.
Unfortunately, the Chinese have not yet begun to go into the characteristics of the hybrid crossover, but they said that the serial production of the Venucia Star is scheduled for 2020. Such an all-terrain vehicle will be sold exclusively in the Middle Kingdom, but there is no information on prices yet.
