For the second time, Dodge has updated the third-generation Durango crossover, which has been on the market since two thousand and ten. As part of the next restyling, the Americans tried to add aggression to the look of the model. With their submission, the car received narrower LED headlights and a front bumper with separate side sections.
The standard radiator grille with a branded cross for the Dodge Durango 2021 in a new body has been replaced with a more compact, fine-mesh one, and of the changes at the stern, it is worth noting the appearance of a new bumper, as well as an enlarged spoiler visor on the tailgate.
As before, the interior of the SUV can have two or three rows of seats, with the main innovation here is a completely revised front panel architecture with a slightly deployed (7 degrees) center console towards the driver. At the top of the latter is the touchscreen display of the new Uconnect 5 multimedia system.
Depending on the configuration, the diagonal of the touchscreen can be 8.4 or 10.1 inches, while the Americans note that the complex itself works five times faster than before. As for the dashboard, its configuration has not changed: a large display with a painted speedometer is still inscribed between the analog dials.
The Americans did not touch the line of power units of the updated Dodge Durango 2021 model year, which means that SUVs in SXT, GT and Citadel trim levels have a 3.6-atmospheric V6 engine of the Pentastar family by default, developing 299 hp. and 353 Nm of torque.
In turn, the R / T modification is based on a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 with a capacity of 365 forces (529 Nm), with which a heavy vehicle is capable of accelerating up to 233 km / h. However, on such machines, the exhaust system settings have been revised, and now they will delight the owners with a more aggressive sound.
The Hemi V8 5.7 engine is also available for Citadel, which, by the way, flaunts the richest interior, but here the exhaust has a “calm” sound. In any case, both of these motors work in conjunction with an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic, and the drive can be either rear or all-wheel drive.
Separate from the rest is the “charged” version of the Dodge Durango SRT, which is powered by a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 with 482 hp. (637 Nm). Such a crossover is already in the base with all-wheel drive and has a standard launch control. From meta to hundred, he can accelerate in 4.5 seconds.
Moreover, with the update, the Durango received an even more powerful version – the SRT Hellcat, which the developers do not hesitate to call the most powerful serial crossover in the world. This modification differs from other versions of the model by the presence of additional air ducts in the front bumper and a reconfigured suspension with adaptive shock absorbers and more rigid attachments to the subframes and the body.
Plus, the top version of the model is equipped with more powerful Brembo brakes, where six-piston mechanisms with 400-mm discs are installed in the front (for comparison, on the SRT they are 380-mm), and at the rear – four-piston with 350 mm. However, the main feature of the 2021 Durango SRT Hellcat is the 6.2-liter Hemi V8, which develops an impressive 720 “horses” and 875 Nm of torque.
This “filling” allows the off-road vehicle to “shoot” from 0-60 mph (97 km / h) in 3.5 seconds, while the drag distance of a quarter mile (402 meters) the car is able to travel in 11.5 seconds. You can accelerate the car up to 290 km / h. Like other all-wheel drive variants of the Durango, the SRT Hellcat is not shy about work and is capable of towing a trailer weighing up to 3,950 kg.
The start of sales of the updated Dodge Durango SUV in the United States is scheduled for the fall of the twentieth year, but the top SRT Hellcat appeared in local dealerships only in early 2021.
