At the Geneva Motor Show 2018, the premiere of the new supercar Ferrari 488 Pista took place, the not very sonorous name of which for the Russian ear is actually translated from Spanish as “track”. In fact, we have before us a racing version of the model, which was originally called the GTO in the media, adapted for public roads.
Compared to the original model, the new Ferrari 488 Pista (photo, price) received a number of differences. The S-Duct air intake has been added to the front, and the rear spoiler is taller and longer, which generates 20% more downforce.
Plus, the Italians reworked the air ducts under the bottom of the car, which also had a positive effect on the aerodynamics of the model. The weight of the supercar was reduced by 90 kg (to 1,280) thanks to the active use of carbon in the construction, from which the front fairing, engine cover, rear spoiler and diffuser, as well as optional 20-inch wheels are made.
The Ferrari 488 Pista 2018-2019 was equipped with a 3.9-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine with two turbines, which received lightweight crankshafts and a flywheel, a carbon fiber intake manifold, titanium connecting rods, and a new exhaust manifold made of Inconel heat-resistant alloy.
As a result of the above improvements, the engine output increased and the original 670 hp. up to 720 “horses”, and the peak torque was raised from 760 to 770 Nm (at 3,000 rpm). The result is the most powerful atmospheric “eight” in the history of the company, which is paired here with a reconfigured 7-band preselective robot.
According to the passport data, the new Ferrari 488 Pista (characteristics) is capable of accelerating from zero to hundreds in 2.85 seconds, which is 0.15 seconds faster than the original. In the future, the acceleration does not weaken, and the car takes the bar of 200 km / h after 7.6 seconds. since the start (- 0.7). The maximum speed reaches 340 km / h.

Among other technical features of the coupe, it is worth noting the presence of adaptive shock absorbers with magnetorheological fluid and Michelin tires specially welded for this model. The car also received a sixth-generation Slide Sleep Control (SSC), an upgraded third-generation electronically controlled E-Diff differential lock and a new Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer electronic add-on.
The latter individually regulates the pressure in the braking mechanisms, focusing on the instantaneous parameters of movement and allowing the most accurate dosage of deceleration during cornering. The Ferrari 488 Pista is slated to begin sales in the second half of 2018, no pricing information is available.
