In December of the twentieth, sales of the fashionable coupe-like Chinese crossover Jili Tugela 2021 started in Russia, which in terms of technology is a close relative of the Swedish Volvo XC40, and its body in form factor can be compared with the BMW X4. The company positions its model as premium, so the price tag is appropriate – at least 2.5 million rubles.
So far, only one engine has been offered for the Geely Tugella FY11 in the Russian market – this is a powerful turbocharged engine paired with a robotic gearbox and all-wheel drive. In the model lineup, this car took a place one step higher than the Atlas crossover – one of the best-selling “Chinese” in the Russian Federation.

The new body of Gili Tugela 2021 is built on the basis of the CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform, developed by the Chinese brand in cooperation with the Swedes from Volvo. This “bogie” is characterized by the transverse arrangement of the engine and the presence of an all-metal body, in the design of which high-strength steels are widely used.
The crossover has independent suspension in a circle, complemented by passive shock absorbers and anti-roll bars. The classic MacPherson struts are installed on the front axle of the car, and a multi-link on the rear. Disc brakes are used on all wheels of the car, and ventilated at the front.
The all-wheel drive of the model is realized using a fifth-generation BorgWarner multi-plate clutch with electro-hydraulic control, which is able to distribute traction between the axles in equal proportions (50:50). Crossover Geely Tugella FY11 has the following dimensions, mm

According to the data sheet, the trunk volume of the Chinese crossover is 446 liters, and if the rear row seats are folded, the compartment capacity reaches 1,077 liters. The all-terrain vehicle is equipped with a 54-liter fuel tank, and its curb weight is 1,740 kg.
In the Russian market, the new 2021 Gili Tugela is offered exclusively with a 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine that works with an eight-speed automatic, developing 238 hp. and 350 Nm. Acceleration to hundreds is declared at 6.9 seconds, the maximum speed is 210 km / h, and the average fuel consumption in the combined cycle is 8.1 l / 100 km.
The coupe-like Gili Tugell is characterized by a harmonious and harmonious exterior design, and especially the Chinese have succeeded in the “face” of the car. At the front, the model draws attention to itself with four-section LED headlights and a branded blackened radiator grille.
The developers also did not fail with the interior design: everything inside is stylish and modern. A large 12.3-inch display of the multimedia system is mounted in the center of the front panel, which pleases the eye with clear graphics and quick response. Driver information is displayed on a digital device. The display of the latter also has a diagonal of 12.3 ″ and is designed to please the driver with four graphic presets.
Geely Tugella is one of the most dynamic crossovers in the class, so there should be no problems with overtaking on the track. But the settings for the electric power steering of the model turned out to be far from ideal. The steering wheel is too pinched here, which leaves much to be desired feedback.
In urban operation, this drawback is practically not felt, but on the same highway it makes you nervous. But the crossover suspension ideally smoothes out minor asphalt defects and copes well with larger irregularities. On a dirt road, the car also does not give in and is able to drive quickly and comfortably even on 20-inch wheels.
The salon of the new Gili Tugela pleases with nappa leather and faux suede trim, as well as an abundance of soft plastic. The front seats are electrically adjustable, and the driver’s also with memory. The fit is comfortable, but a fly in the ointment is the ill-conceived ergonomics of the workplace.
For example, the lion’s share of the functionality is assigned to the aforementioned multimedia, but its interface is illogical and it will be difficult to understand it without instructions. In addition, the seemingly beautiful gearshift selector is terribly inconvenient in everyday use: to turn on the drive or reverse, the driver has to look for a small unlock button located on the front edge hidden from view.
As for the second row, it is more than spacious on the Geely Tugella, and the Chinese have also provided the so-called “command button”, which allows you to additionally move the front passenger seat forward. The sofa itself is profiled for three people, where three-section “aviation” headrests are available to the riders along the edges.
The car debuted at home in the early nineteenth year as the Geely Xing Yue / FY11, becoming the flagship in the manufacturer’s lineup. The specialists of the Shanghai studio worked on the design of the model, as a result of which they managed to create a very harmonious look.
For the Russian market, the car was renamed “Tugella” – in honor of the Tugella waterfall located in the Royal National Park Natal (South Africa), which is the second highest in the world (411 meters).
It is expected that in 2021 we will begin to supply a crossover in the Luxury configuration, which will receive 19-inch rims instead of 20 ″ on the top Flagship version, while the equipment will exclude a panoramic roof, paddle shifters for manual gear shifting, and, possibly, some kind of electronic assistants, which will ultimately reduce the price a little.
