In the second half of September two thousand nineteen, the premiere of the updated 5th generation Honda CR-V crossover took place in the United States. The model for the local market received minor adjustments in appearance and acquired a hybrid design. The start of sales of the model in Russia fell on the fall of the twentieth, while prices, as expected, increased.
During the restyling, the Japanese installed other bumpers on the new Honda SRV 2021 model year and replaced the wheels. The rear lights of the car were tinted, and the exhaust pipes received trapezoidal nozzles instead of round ones. The Russian configuration of the car remained the same, but their equipment was somewhat expanded.

The Lifestyle version has been supplemented with a side-view camera “Lane Watch” and a heated steering wheel, while the Prestige equipment now boasts wireless smartphone charging and contactless activation of the boot lid servo. Plus, the arsenal now has new design wheels and an exclusive blue tint for the body color.
Of the changes in the cabin, only the other casing of the central tunnel deserves mention, on which from now on there is a platform for wireless charging of smartphones and two USB connectors. At the same time, the hybrid version can be distinguished by the LED fog light strips (on the usual versions they are round) and the exhaust pipes hidden under the bumper.
In the interior of such a car, a different tidy is installed, and instead of the transmission lever, a push-button control panel is used. As for the technical features of the 2021 Honda CR-V in a new body, the version for Russia has retained the same line of power units – a 2.0-liter aspirated engine with a capacity of 150 hp is put in the base of the car. (189 Nm), and a pair of it is a 2.4-liter engine with 186 “horses” and 244 Nm of torque.
Both options immediately come with an all-wheel drive transmission and a variator, it takes 11.9 seconds to accelerate from zero to hundreds of the initial version of the Honda SRV 2.0, and the maximum speed is 188 km / h. The more powerful version for maximum speed is ready to offer a little more – 190 kilometers per hour, but it accelerates to the first hundred in 10.3 seconds.

Note that in the States, none of the engines listed above is no longer put on the crossover – from now on, the most affordable version of the model overseas is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo engine with 193 “horses”. The latter works similarly in conjunction with a variator, and the drive can be either front or full. At the same time, the aforementioned hybrid modification, which had previously appeared in Europe and Japan, finally became available to the Americans.
The new Honda CR-V Hybrid is powered by a 145 hp 2.0-liter petrol engine running on the Atkinson economy cycle, as well as an 184 hp traction electric motor. There is no gearbox here, and the total output of the units is 215 hp. (315 Nm).
It is known that when driving at low speeds, the electric motor is responsible for the rotation of the wheels, while the internal combustion engine only drives the generator, which recharges the traction battery located under the boot floor. But the connection of the gasoline engine directly to the wheels occurs only as the speed rises with the help of the clutch.
Note that the hybrid version of the SRV already has four-wheel drive in the base, and the transmission on the car is exactly the same as on the standard version with an internal combustion engine, that is, with a transfer case, a multi-plate clutch and a rear differential. Note that neither a hybrid nor a version with a turbo engine is supplied to us and it seems they are not going to.
During the restyling, the Japanese also included in the list of the basic equipment of the model the proprietary complex “Honda Sensing”, which includes adaptive cruise control, an automatic braking system and the function of keeping the car in the lane.
The updated Honda SRV appeared in the showrooms of American dealers of the brand in October nineteenth, while Russian buyers had to wait for deliveries for a whole year. Alas, but not a cheap car has become even more expensive, so the dealership cannot count on high demand.
