I bought a new Haval F7x just two months ago, the previous models are Renault Duster, Vesta Cross and Kia Sportage. After running 2,000 km, I can share my first impressions of a Chinese car, which exceeded my expectations in all respects.
The first test drive of the 190-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter unit went off with a bang. Good acceleration dynamics – of course, you cannot compare with sports cars, but 180 km / h goes smoothly along the highway. There is also a thrust for acceleration, power is felt. At such a speed, there is a smooth adjustment of the course, and clarity of maneuvers – the steering wheel obeys no worse than a BMW.
Review of Haval F7x 2.0 (190 HP) 4WD 2020
Most of all I liked the dynamics of acceleration – the crossover accelerates very quickly, I scored a “hundred” in less than 10 seconds. It’s too early to talk about the quality of the engine. After 2,000 km everything works well, starts up with half a turn.
Fuel consumption corresponds to what the manufacturer says – at least 10 liters on the highway. If you ride around the city – 13 liters of gasoline. True, for the first 100 km in the city, when I was driving from the passenger compartment, it took almost 17 liters. Already at the second “hundred” the indicator stabilized, there was no overrun even once. What is very bad – a small fuel tank, only 49 liters. The washer reservoir is also small – 3 liters.
The appearance of the new Hawal F7x is quite presentable: large radiator cells and streamlined shapes give the car a beautiful look – something between brutality and elegance. I liked the filling of the cabin, everything is conveniently done for the driver – no need to reach for the levers, all the buttons are at hand.
There are also drawbacks – the volume is clearly not enough in the audio. The media system of the century before last, I will change. And the second minus is that heated seats are not provided at all. I tried to heat the cabin – the stove works fine, but after all, there is no frost yet, in winter we will take a thorough look.
Soundproofing is average, nothing rattles, no knocks, but if water gets into the wheel arches, it becomes noisy in the cabin – the arches will have to “make noise” additionally.
On our country roads, the suspension works well, it is moderately stiff, it goes through the pits smoothly. I like the high ground clearance, and paired with a productive engine Hawal showed excellent cross-country ability (I had to ride on a dirt road after rain). In general, the car is well tuned and firmly knocked down, the metal of the body is no longer as soft as in the first “Chinese”.
What annoys me specifically is the strange steering in the range from 100 to 140 km / h, after 140 the steering wheel obeys the slightest touch, but if the speed is lower, then you need to be very careful and hold the steering wheel firmly. Rubber 225/55 R19 comes from the cabin – good quality, but I will change it to the proven NordFrost closer to winter.
In general, I am very pleased with the car, the 2020 Haval F7x turned out to be much better than both Duster and Sportage in terms of control quality and convenience. It is too early to talk about the reliability of the units, let’s see at least after 10,000 mileage.
