Since the 2013 season, the Infiniti car company has become the title sponsor of the Red Bull Formula 1 championship team. The manufacturer’s lineup already includes the FX50 Vettel Edition crossover, and another project was presented at the Detroit Auto Show in 2014.
Meet the Infiniti Q50 sedan in the Eau Rouge version, named after the famous Red Water corner at the legendary Belgian Circuit Spa-Francorchamps. However, while this model is only a concept.
Externally, the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge Concept sports an aerodynamic body kit made of carbon fiber. It includes a front splitter, side skirts, mirror housings and a diffuser, in the center of which is a brake light.
In addition, the car has a carbon fiber roof, different bumpers, a different hood and stylish 21-inch alloy wheels, behind which are painted red brake calipers. Inside, sports leather seats and a steering wheel with paddle shifters are installed, while red carbon inserts flaunt on the center console and door panels.
Initially, the company did not report anything about the technical stuffing of the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge sedan, but in March 2014 the model was presented at the motor show in Geneva, where it became known that under the hood of the sedan there was a 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine with two turbines. 568 h.p. (600 Nm), borrowed from the Nissan GTR coupe. Thus, this prototype became the most powerful Infiniti car in the history of the brand.
The engine is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission, providing the sedan with acceleration from standstill to hundreds in less than four seconds, and a top speed of 290 km / h. And now the manufacturer is thinking about creating a sub-brand (the name for it has not yet been invented) to release “charged” modifications of its models under it in order to compete with the products of the AMG and M Performance divisions.
Note that Infiniti already has a court atelier IPL (Infiniti Performance Line), which appeared in 2010, but it deals mainly only with the refinement of the exterior and interiors of production cars, without seriously affecting the mechanical component.
In the summer of 2014, the President of Infiniti announced that if the car goes on sale, then its cost could be about $ 100,000, which is much more expensive than competitors. True, the manufacturer can subsidize each car in order to lower prices for buyers. But at the end of the year it became known that the manufacturer had abandoned plans to launch this model into production.
