In Thailand, the premiere of the new generation Isuzu MU-X SUV took place. Note that the predecessor was an official clone of the Chevrolet TrailBlazer model, but the car in a new body was developed by the Japanese brand on its own.
Isuzu MU-X 2021 is built on the basis of the new D-Max 3 pickup. Externally, the SUV turned out to be a lot like a truck, although more aggressive headlights and an original radiator grill are installed in the front.
Note that from the outside, the basic versions of the model are minor “naked” off-road vehicles, but there are also rich options in the range, flaunting 20-inch wheels and LED head optics.
Salon MU-X also largely repeats the interior decoration of the original pickup, differing from the latter only in decor. Compared to its predecessor, the interior of the car has become noticeably richer and of better quality, as evidenced by the softer plastic finish.
As before, the SUV has a three-row interior, while the developers report an increase in the adjustment ranges of the seats in the second row. In addition, they promised a more spacious gallery.
The new 2021 Isuzu MU-X body is based on the “Isuzu Dynamic Drive” platform with a different frame, which is not only lighter, but also stiffer than the previous one, which was achieved through the use of additional transverse amplifiers. To ensure better weight distribution, the Japanese moved the engine a little closer to the cabin.
The front axle of the model still uses an independent double wishbone suspension, while a continuous axle is involved. On the sister D-Max pickup, the latter is suspended on springs, and the SUV has a spring suspension. Compared to its predecessor, the levers are made longer, which has increased comfort and suspension travel.
The car is characterized by a wider use of high-strength steels, while its fifth door is made of plastic and can now have an electric drive. The overall length of the Isuzu MU-X II is 4,850 mm, the wheelbase is 2,855, the width is 1,870, the height is 1,875, the ground clearance is 235 millimeters, and the fuel tank is designed for 80 liters (+ 15).
The SUV is based on a 1.9-liter turbodiesel with 150 hp. and 350 Nm, which can work both with the mechanics of our own design, and with the six-speed automatic Aisin. Plus, the model can be ordered with a 3.0-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel 4JJ3 with a capacity of 190 forces (450 Nm) – this unit is exclusively equipped with an automatic transmission.
In Thailand, almost all versions of the Isuzu MU-X come with rear-wheel drive – and only the version with a three-liter engine can be ordered with a full one. However, other combinations are possible in other markets. The all-wheel drive transmission itself implies a rigidly connected front axle and a downshift with a gear ratio of 2.48: 1. Note that the four-wheel drive versions have Rough Terrain Mode with imitation of locks.
As for the equipment, in the cheapest versions there are only two airbags and a stabilization system. In the top-end versions, there are already six pillows, and the driver has a whole arsenal of electronic assistants at his service, including automatic braking and a lane tracking system.
In the Thai market, the Isuzu MU-X SUV in a new body began to be sold in November of the twentieth, there is no information on prices. Over time, the geography of sales of the model will be expanded, while it is expected that such a car will appear in Russia as well – the start of sales is scheduled for 2022, the exact dates will be announced later.
