For the Geneva Motor Show two thousand and eighteenth, Jaguar has prepared a serial version of its first electric car, called the I-Pace. A conceptual version of the latter was first shown a year and a half ago at the Los Angeles auto show.
The new model Jaguar I-Pace 2021 (photo and price) is a compact crossover with two electric motors, and its key competitor is still the Tesla Model X. At the same time, Audi and Mercedes will present all-terrain vehicles on electric traction very soon.

The production of the model was established at the Magna Steyr enterprise in Austria, where the younger E-Pace is also produced, the start of sales of the Jaguar i-Pace in Russia fell on the end of the eighteenth, the price starts at 6,246 rubles, although it was originally planned that the four-wheel drive 400-horsepower electric car would cost we have from five million. In total, four configurations are offered for the car: S, SE, HSE and First Edition.
- Initial release S immediately provides diode optics, dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, Meridian music, multimedia with a 10.0-inch display, heated windshield, automatic parking, 20-inch wheels, and automatic braking and lane keep functions.
- Complete set I KNOW supplemented by adaptive cruise control, a servo-controlled fifth door, plus it additionally boasts more expensive leather used in interior trim.
- Option HSE sports an even more expensive interior trim, advanced audio system, all-round cameras and matrix headlights.
- Special execution First Edition includes all possible options that are available for other versions for an extra charge. Among them, for example, are air suspension, four-zone climate control, panoramic roof, etc.
The Jaguar i-Pace is based on a new aluminum platform, in the structure of which lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 90 kWh are integrated. At the same time, the steering and suspension (a double-lever is used in the front, a multi-link scheme with an “integral” lower arm at the rear) are borrowed from the related Range Rover Velar.
There are 200-horsepower synchronous motors on each axle, which in total produce 400 hp. and 696 Nm of torque available from the start. As a result, the all-wheel drive I-Pace weighing 2,100 kg spends 4.8 seconds to accelerate from zero to hundreds, the maximum speed is not specified.
In addition, against the background of the aforementioned Tesla, the Briton boasts an ideal axle weight distribution in a 50:50 ratio, a lower center of gravity (130 mm lower than on the F-Pace), as well as a driver-tuned chassis. Now let’s find out how long a full charge of the batteries lasts.
The manufacturer claims a range for the WLTP cycle of 480 kilometers, but in real conditions it is worth counting on about 350-400 kilometers. It will take about 40 minutes to recharge up to 80% at a fast station with a capacity of 100 kW, and about 85 minutes on the more common 50-kW stations in Europe. It has already been 10 hours to stand at the home socket (7 kW).
It will be important to note the company representatives that they tested the i-Pace in 40-degree frost conditions, in which the electric crossover turned out to be completely viable, although how much the power reserve drops at such temperatures is not specified. It can be assumed that the machine will still run two hundred kilometers.
Design and salon
As for the appearance of the Jaguar I-Pace 2021 in a new body, the SUV design is almost completely identical to the original concept. There is a proprietary grille and diode head optics, flat smooth sidewalls with recessed handles inside the doors, a sloping coupe-like roof, a large spoiler over the rear window, lights in the manner of an F-Type sports car and bumpers with air ducts.
But if the prototype sported 23-inch rollers, then the serial car was equipped with wheels with a diameter of 18 to 22 ″, the rear-view mirrors became larger, and static vents appeared on the side windows. At the same time, the salon has become noticeably simpler than on the concept, but its design in many respects resembles other models of the company.
The instrument cluster is completely electronic by default, the center console houses two color touch screens (the lower one is supplemented by two washers and is responsible for the climate, the upper one is part of the Touch Pro Duo multimedia complex), each of which is equipped with a tactile feedback function.
The interior of the new 2021 Jaguar I-Pace is finished with high-quality materials and boasts ample space thanks to an impressive 2,990 mm wheelbase (total overall length is 4,680). The trunk volume here is 656 liters, and with the backs of the rear sofa folded down – 1,453 liters.
Other features include a low aerodynamic drag coefficient (0.29), active curtains in the front bumper that open when there is a lack of cooling, as well as air suspension available for a surcharge, which makes the crossover not only gambling, but also comfortable.
