At the Frankfurt Motor Show two thousand nineteen, the premiere of the new Lamborghini Sian supercar, which became the first hybrid and at the same time the most powerful production model of the company, took place. And in the summer of the twentieth, a roadster also joined him. The name of the car in Bologna means “flash” or “lightning”.
The design of the model turned out to be made in the style of the Centenario supercar, with which the novelty is related by a similar design of the front bumper and side air vents. At the same time, the car received Y-shaped diode running lights spied on the Terzo Millennio concept.
Also, the new Lamborghini Sian stands out with trapezoidal lanterns (three on each side), a large number of air ducts on a carbon fiber body, a massive diffuser with a pair of impressively shaped exhaust pipes and an adjustable wing that rises at high speed. The appearance of the coupe was worked by the chief designer of the company Mitya Borkert, who was inspired by the classic Countach model.
In addition, active dampers with actuators are built into the rear of the car, which, when heated from the exhaust gases, turn, thereby increasing heat removal from the engine for better cooling. The Sian prepared for the Lamborghini exhibition was painted in a rather unusual green shade “Verde Gea” with gold accents “Oro Electrum”.
The interior of the model sports Poltrona Frau leather trim and 3D-printed inserts. In general, the interior of the car also resembles the aforementioned Centenario in many ways. The manufacturer emphasizes that each car will be modified by the specialists of the Ad Personam department, so there should not be two identical copies.
The new Lamborghini Sian is based on the chassis from the Aventador SVJ model with push-rod suspension, magnetorheological fluid shock absorbers and an all-wheel drive transmission with Haldex clutch on the front axle. A 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 with titanium intake valves was borrowed from the latter, but the output was increased from 770 to 785 hp, although the peak torque remained the same – 720 Nm.
At the same time, a 34-horsepower (38 Nm) 48-volt e-motor electric motor is built into the ISR (Independent Shifting Rods) robotic transmission with one clutch, adding its thrust to the main internal combustion engine at speeds up to 130 km / h, after which it turns off. As a result, the total output of the installation reaches 819 “horses”, which provides the coupe with acceleration from zero to a hundred in 2.8 seconds (a heavier roadster does it in 2.9 seconds), the maximum speed is 350 km / h.
A supercapacitor is responsible for powering the electric motor (it is three times more powerful and three times lighter than a lithium-ion battery similar in its parameters), which is recharged during each braking due to the recuperation system. The capacitor is installed between the passenger compartment and the engine compartment, and together with the electric motor, they weigh 34 kg. The distribution of mass along the axles on the Lamborghini Sian is 43:57 in favor of the rear, the car itself pulls on the scales of 1,622 kg.
The stored energy allows the supercar to park and reverse on pure electric traction, plus it can be used for short-term recoil during intense acceleration, leveling the traction dips from the internal combustion engine during gear changes. For comparison, the Lamborghini Sian accelerates from 30 to 60 km / h 0.2 seconds faster than the Aventador SVJ, and from 70 to 120 km / h in 1.2 seconds.
In total, the company will release only 63 copies of the coupe (in honor of the year the brand was founded) and only 19 roadsters, all of which were sold out even before the official presentation. The price of Lamborghini Sian is not named, according to preliminary data, it starts at $ 3.6 million.
