If you want to dim the brightness of the devices, then the illumination of the door handles and the decorative illumination also go out. In the dark, when the doors are opened, half of the buttons are off, namely the trunk button, gas tank, seat memory, etc. These are the ones you use more often. I also did not understand how the automatic switching on of the high beam works. You go through the village to one house – the distant one does not include. Apparently he thinks that this is a settlement.

Immediately I appreciated the luxurious armchairs with many electric adjustments and ventilation. Even if you spend the whole day behind the wheel, you don’t get tired. The car has good visibility, parking sensors are front and rear. Very effective sound insulation: in urban operation, not only can you not hear the engine, but in general it feels like you are sitting in an office with a double-glazed window.

The dynamics for the city is quite sufficient, but on the highway when overtaking, a more powerful engine would not hurt. Fuel consumption is moderate, about 12 liters per 100 km, you can fill in AI-92 gasoline. The suspension is moderately stiff, handling and brakes are excellent.

Compared to the Camry 55, I can immediately note the noise isolation. The car is noticeably quieter, and on the way back from the dealer at a speed of 120-130 km / h we talked in the cabin without raising our voices. Everything in the salon is of good quality. So far nothing creaks anywhere, and it’s too early to talk about it – the mileage is only 1,000 km.

The car is very warm: at -30 it is warm inside, even the steering wheel is warm, although it does not have a heating function. The seat heating is excellent, it starts to warm up quickly and has an “Auto” function.

The trip Volgograd – Minsk and back with a full load was frightening at first. There were four adults and a child in a chair. The weight of all is approximately 400 kg, plus 50-60 kg in the trunk. The car crouched, but not as much as I expected. The Camry 50 crouched more under the same load. I compare it with the Camry, as last year there was the same trip with the same line-up.

I must say right away that they did not hook anything with the bottom for the whole journey. We drove carefully: on the highway 100-110 km / h, and on the toll road and across Belarus – a little faster. The suspension worked well for smooth irregularities, but in front of the step of the new asphalt in the places of repair and in front of all kinds of bridges it is better to slow down – after all, the front end is harder than that of the Camry. My driving style is calm, so we drove in eco-mode. And yet the car rides briskly and confidently. Comfort at the highest level!

For a year of operation and 20,000 km of run, no repairs – only scheduled maintenance. I do it every 10,000 km. I am very pleased with the car, although in some moments it loses to the Germans. For example, the Lexus engine could be more powerful.

But the eight-speed gearbox works very well. Consumption is also pleasing: it shows an average of 10 l / 100 km in the city. I drive quite actively, although I don’t drive.

Lexus ES 2021 in a new body

The 2021 Lexus EU in the new XV70 body is built on the same chassis (GA-K) as the new Toyota Camry V70. This bogie is a variation on the TNGA modular platform with a transverse engine layout and a lower center of gravity.

The body of the new model is characterized by a wider use of high-strength grades of steel, which has a positive effect on the rigidity of the structure as a whole. As for the suspension, it is completely independent on the sedan: MacPherson struts are installed in front, while a multi-link is used at the rear. Compared to the soplatform Camry, the new 2021 Lexus EU is noticeably more sensitive to the quality of the road surface. The suspension of a car notices defects of various calibers, and the most painful for it are drives through large transverse obstacles and potholes.

At the same time, the Japanese five-meter sedan handles just fine. Thanks to the “sharp” steering wheel, it quickly and accurately reacts to all driver actions. On the highway, the car flies like an arrow, and turns at speeds lays confidently, but with a little bit of excitement.

Cars with basic and “mid” four-cylinder units cannot boast of impressive dynamics. Their character is exceptionally peaceful, therefore, against their background, the modification with a six-cylinder engine seems to be a real race – it easily accelerates both from a standstill and at speed.

The front seats of the new Lexus ES XV70 model have a well thought-out profile that seems to follow the contours of the body, due to which the driver and front passenger feel comfortable even after several hours of continuous driving.

In turn, the second row pleases passengers with a royal space – there is a solid supply of free space in front of the knees, but the roof is still low, because of which tall passengers will prop up the ceiling with their heads.

The interior of the new Lexus ES also boasts excellent noise insulation, which is even confusing at first on cars with a top-end engine: you seem to press the “slippers on the floor”, but the aggressive rumble of the six-cylinder engine is almost inaudible.

The premiere of the seventh generation Lexus ES sedan in the back of the XV70 took place at the Beijing Motor Show two thousand and eighteenth.
