One Of The Few Frames With Sedan Control: Better Cross-country Ability Than Prado

He drove almost 55,000 km in his Kia Mohave SUV. I bought a car in 2014, bought it in the salon, took an automatic transmission, a 4WD drive, a three-liter diesel with a productivity of 250 hp. For the Mojave, the fifth car in a row and the only one at the moment, from which you almost never want to leave.

Everything in the cabin is so comfortable and there is almost everything (except for the shower). I like the ergonomics verified to the millimeter – everything is at hand. Very comfortable driver’s seat, folds back almost evenly. Sheathing only genuine leather, plus a full power accessories, two-zone “climate”, electric conductors.

The SUV is now 4 years old and there is not a hint of corrosion. Last year I took off plastic body kits for repainting in the color of the car – everything is clean and even under the cover, although I expected to see pockets in the places of fasteners. I poured anticorrosive into the holes just in case, and that’s it.

The engine is excellent, for two years there are no complaints. The three-liter diesel engine produces 540 Nm of torque and 250 “horses”. That’s enough for fast acceleration and decent overtaking. The motor combines power, reliability and … minimum transport tax. This is the best combination for a car of this class. Fuel consumption on the highway is 9.5 liters, a little more than the manufacturer promises (9.3), in the city in frosty conditions it reaches 13 liters of diesel fuel.

The automatic transmission is quite adequate, in the configuration it is exactly the “automatic” ZF with 8 steps, without any variators and robots. I personally recommend changing the transmission every 50,000 km, and under normal operation you can get an indestructible gearbox.

In terms of handling, the Kia Mohave became the first frame car with a sedan control for me. The driving style is similar to the fifth Explorer, the cross-country ability is better than that of the Land Cruiser Prado. It accelerates to “hundreds” in 9 seconds.

The only weak point is the suspension. From the factory comes pneuma, which many immediately change to springs, because our road reagents completely corrode the sensor connectors. After the first winter, my Mojave began to “dance” on every pothole, when checking the terminals crumbled right in my hands.

My advice is never to go to the salon with this problem. They do not even know about such a problem and offer to change everything, and the price is up to 28,000 rubles. And you need to bring the wiring to the sensors directly, without standard terminals, calibrate and fill it with epoxy, since the sensor itself is working, but there is no connection with it.

In general, I am very pleased with the model. In my opinion, this is the best SUV – I continue to watch and enjoy.
