In February of the twenty-first, the Germans declassified the new Porsche 911 GT3 of the 992 series. This modification is a road coupe, which has a number of fundamental differences from the base Carrera.
Outside, the new Porsche 911 GT3 (992) features an advanced aerodynamic body kit. In particular, the car received a large carbon wing with an inverted mount and a massive diffuser, and the design of these components the Germans spied on from the racing 911 RSR. Both elements are active and can be adjusted to suit the highway or ring track.
The Porsche range
Front and rear, the sports car is equipped with new 20- and 21-inch wheels, which in total are 1.6 kg lighter than the wheels of its predecessor. For a surcharge, they can be “shod” in semi-slick Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R. By the way, until recently, the latter were offered exclusively for the extreme GT3 RS.
The interior of the Porsche 911 GT3 2021 in a new body received air conditioning and a multimedia system, while the tidy acquired a “Track Screen” racing mode, when activated, only the most important driver information is displayed on the display. You can switch between driving presets using a special button on the steering wheel.
For a surcharge, the Chrono Package is available with an analog tachometer on the front panel, plus the customer can opt out of the rear seats by ordering a semi-safety cage instead.
The Porsche 911 GT3 (992) was the only modification in the family that retained the naturally aspirated engine. The two-door is driven by the old 4.0-liter six-cylinder boxer, which has individual throttle valves for each cylinder and a dry sump.
Engine performance has been increased from the previous 500 hp. and 460 Nm to 510 forces and 469 Nm of torque. In this case, the unit can spin up to 9,000 rpm. By default, a seven-band PDK robot with two clutches works in conjunction with the engine, but the sports car can also be ordered with a classic six-speed mechanics.
The new Porsche 911 GT3 2021 with a robot still takes 3.4 seconds to accelerate from zero to 100 km / h. The maximum speed has not changed either – 318 km / h (320 km / h for the version with manual transmission). At the same time, on the track, the car turned out to be faster than its predecessor: during a special race along the Nürburgring North loop, it was possible to drive a 20.8 km circle in 6 minutes and 59.927 seconds, that is, about 17.0 seconds faster.
A similar result was made possible not so much due to the slightly increased recoil of the engine, but due to the lightweight design (- 70 kg) and the modernized chassis. According to the automaker, the curb weight of a two-door with mechanics is 1,418 kg, and with a robot – 1,435 kg.
The weight reduction was facilitated not only by the carbon components of the outer body kit and the aforementioned wheels, but also by thinner glass and a different engine cover. Plus, the car received a sports exhaust system lightened by 10 kg, and another 12 kg can be thrown off by ordering special carbon fiber buckets for the salon.
If earlier on such a modification on the front axle basic MacPherson struts were used, then a double wishbone suspension is involved, plus the front track was expanded by 48 mm. The rear axle has a multi-link suspension, but it has no parts in common with the base Carrera. In particular, instead of rubber-metal hinges, rigid ball joints are installed in its structure.
At the base, the sports car has 408 mm steel disc brakes at the front (+ 28) and 380 mm at the rear. As an option, the model offers carbon-ceramic movements with 410 and 390 mm discs at the front and rear, respectively. The start of sales of the new Porsche 911 GT3 (992) is scheduled for May 2021, the price of the model in Russia starts at 13,180,000 rubles.
