Porsche continues to expand the Taycan family of electric vehicles. This time the Germans presented the “initial” modification of the Taycan 4S, which will be located one step below the initially announced more powerful versions of the Turbo and Turbo S.
Outside, the 2020 Porsche Taikan 4S is recognizable by the presence of 19-inch alloy wheels with red brake calipers, while the front air intake, side skirts and rear diffuser of such a sports car are black.
The salon here is practically no different from other versions. Inside there is a free-standing curved digital instrument display, as well as a 10.9-inch entertainment complex touchscreen and an optional passenger monitor. In the base, the interior is partially trimmed with leather, and the front seats are electrically adjustable in eight directions.
Like the older versions, the Porsche Taycan 4S is powered by two electric motors, one of which is mounted on the front axle and the other on the rear. Plus, the electric car is equipped with a two-stage gearbox. However, there are still differences in the technical stuffing. The rear motor is still more compact here: it reaches 130 mm in length against 210 mm on the Turbo versions.
By default, the sports car relies on a battery with a capacity of 79.2 kWh, with which the model can travel up to 407 km without recharging (according to the WLTP cycle). In this case, the car can be ordered with the “Performance Battery Plus” package, which implies the presence of a more capacious battery (93.4 kWh), increasing the range to 463 km. The maximum charging power is declared at 225 kW (270 kW with optional package).
In the new Porsche Taikan 4S 2020, electric motors develop a total of 530 hp, but the presence of “Performance Battery Plus” allows you to increase the output to 571 hp. However, the latter does not affect the dynamic characteristics in any way. With or without a package, the four-door is capable of accelerating from zero to a hundred in 4.0 seconds, and its maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km / h.
Like the older Taycan Turbo and Turbo S, the 4S version has air suspension, but the carbon-ceramic brakes of this modification are not included. Instead, the four-door is equipped with simpler 360- and 358-mm cast iron discs at the front and rear, respectively.
Taking orders for the Porsche Taycan 4S has already started. The electric sports car can be purchased from $ 103,800 (from $ 110,380 for a car with a larger battery), with the first live cars hitting European showrooms in January 2020.
