Should Have Been Nothing, But Alas

Took six months ago BMW 3-series M340i xDrive. I took the car under emotions, mesmerized the appearance, so I did not pay attention to the technical characteristics. After a full run-in of 10,000 km, I share my impressions.

By design, the “treshka” is by far the most beautiful car I have ever had. Stylish shapes, spoiler, optimal ground clearance – I like everything. Noise isolation is at a level, in the “Sport” mode, you can feel the growl of the engine, but in principle everything is fine, and I will not additionally make the cabin noise.

Now there are run-flan tires, the tires are hard, so extraneous noise is heard from the arches – I’ll change the car to another rubber, I’ll take a look. Double windows reduce aerodynamic noise by 100%, there is nothing to talk about here at all.

Unlike the usual “treshki”, the interior of the M340i version is more presentable. I like almost everything. Excellent chairs with ten modes and memory, verified ergonomics, everything is stylish and beautiful. But! It is not clear why there is simple and very hard plastic on the central panel under the right knee … It spoils the whole impression.

And after the first kilometer I discovered a factory defect – the roof in the area of ​​the driver’s seat began to creak. Repair under warranty took a day, what was there is unknown. The second problem – the right mirror stuck, it just stopped folding on the third day. The issue was resolved by warranty repair.

Well, so that life does not seem like honey at all, with the steering wheel turned as much as possible, a crunch is heard in the area of ​​the front wheels. They say that this is a disease of all “threes” and “fives”, it seems that it does not affect the movement, but it sounds alarming. As a result, both front axle shafts are replaced under warranty, but the parts have not yet arrived.

I console myself that it could have been worse. On the one hand, but on the other, it could have been better, for example, if nothing had broken down in the first four months of operation of an absolutely new and not cheap car.

Further, the BMW M340i xDrive accelerates quite briskly, in the city you have to barely press the gas, because it is too fast. On the highway, the autopilot is activated, it works at speeds up to 180 km / h and it becomes boring to drive. Electronics does everything for you.

The steering is perfectly tuned, according to reviews on this version there is an old model of a BMW rail, which many like for its reliability and quality. I can’t say for sure, but it’s very comfortable to drive. The suspension in Comfort mode is slightly stiff – there is no feeling that you are floating on the highway, but in general it is normal.

When switching to “Sport”, the rigidity doubles, and there is a feeling that you are riding on a washboard, so I rarely use this mode. The fuel consumption is also embarrassing – it is stable 12 liters, so far it does not smell like economy.

The “automatic”, in contrast to the “robot”, works well, in the “Sport” mode the petals work quickly, the automatic gearbox keeps the speed on the cut-off, it works instantly. The engine runs quietly, a large power reserve is felt, even when you squeeze out to two hundred in the country.

In general, I am rather satisfied with the car, and if I had to take a new car, I would again choose the M340i xDrive. Minor bugs don’t count.
