Little-known Spanish company Spano unveiled the first ever Spanish supercar called GTA Spano at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. It took almost five years to develop this project.
The manufacturer pays special attention to the design of GTA Spano, during the development of which the goal was to create a vivid and memorable image, but at the same time not copying any solutions used on other cars.
In general, they succeeded – Spano GTA is remembered for its sidewalls with elliptical stampings, into which the glazing and doors are inscribed. The supercar also has a glass roof, which is rare for a car of this class, and is equipped with an adjustable rear wing.
The model is based on a durable monocoque made of carbon, Kevlar and titanium. Its weight is 80 kg, and the mass of the entire car is 1,350 kg. All body panels are made of lightweight carbon fiber.
Initially, GTA Spano was equipped with an 8.4-liter V10 engine with an output of 820 hp. and 960 Nm of torque at peak. Traction is transmitted to the rear axle through a 7-speed manual or sequential gearbox.
But at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the manufacturer presented a modified version of the supercar with a modernized engine, the output of which was increased to 900 “horses”, and the maximum torque increased to 1,000 Nm. Moreover, the latter even had to be forcibly limited by electronics in order to withstand the transmission.
With it, GTA Spano accelerates from zero to a hundred in 2.9 seconds, and its maximum speed reaches 370 km / h. For comparison, the latest Ferrari LaFerrari and McLaren P1 have similar dynamic characteristics.
New GTA Spano 2016
Spano has seriously redesigned its GTA supercar, a new version of which was presented at the Geneva Motor Show 2015. Now the supercar body is made of carbon, Kevlar, titanium and graphene.
At the same time, the exterior of GTA Spano (2016-2017) has not changed much – the car received new bumpers, redesigned lighting equipment, a larger rear wing of a different shape, four exhaust pipes versus two earlier, and carbon fiber hood lining.
The previous 900-horsepower ten-cylinder engine with a volume of 8.4 liters was replaced by a new 8.0-liter V10 with two turbines, which produces 925 “horses” (1 220 Nm) and is paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission with manual shifting (previously there was Manual transmission).
But surprisingly, despite the lighter body, the mass of the new Spano GTA 2016 turned out to be 50 kg more (1,400 kg) than before. As a result, a small increase in power compensated for the increase in weight, so that the dynamic characteristics of the supercar remained the same: 2.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h and the declared maximum speed of over 370 kilometers per hour.
The edition of the new GTA Spano is limited to the same 99 copies as the previous version, but the price of the model has not been specified.
