Nissan unveiled the Z Proto prototype at the Yokohama Auto Show in September 2000, which is a potential successor to the 370Z sports car.
It is reported that Alfonso Albaiza, vice president of design for the brand, was responsible for the appearance of the two-door. At the suggestion of the latter, the car turned out to be made in a retro style, while in the guise of the car there are numerous references to other classic sports cars of the Z-series.
First of all, the car attracts attention with a bright yellow body paint and teardrop-shaped LED headlights with two semicircular DRL sections, the shape of which the Japanese peeped from the JDM 240ZG model produced in the 1970s.
The retro sports car also received a rectangular radiator grille in the style of the Datsun 240Z S30. By the way, the latter is reminiscent of the similar proportions of the body with a long hood and a roofline sharply falling to the stern.
The feed is made in the style of the more modern 300ZX (Z32) of the 1989 model. At the rear of the car, there are stylish lights housed in an elegant black bar. Plus, the sirloin of the sports car is notable for a catchy diffuser with a pair of round exhaust pipes.
Note that the outside of the Nissan Z Proto Concept received a lot of carbon components (for example, a front splitter and side skirts), and 19-inch alloy wheels flaunt on the wheels of the coupe.
The interior of the prototype is modern in style with contrasting yellow accents. The cabin is characterized by the presence of a 12.3-inch digital tidy and the same display of the multimedia system. However, the retro touches were not without, and three analogue dials can be seen at the top of the front panel.
In terms of dimensions, the concept Z Proto is 4,382 mm long (+ 127 mm compared to the 370Z), width 1,849 (+ 5), and height 1,311 mm (-5). The rear-wheel drive car is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, mated to a six-speed manual. The performance of the engine has not yet been advertised, but each new generation of Z-series sports cars turned out to be more powerful than the previous one.
Most likely, we are talking about a power unit borrowed from the Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400. Therefore, from a sports car we should expect performance at the level of 406 hp. (474 Nm). For comparison, the Nissan 370Z is equipped with a 3.7-liter V6 with 337 horsepower and 366 Nm of torque. Again, the developers do not talk about the dynamics of the sports car, although they promise a driver’s character.
The serial version of the new Nissan Z model is expected in 2021, with North America traditionally becoming the target market, while this two-door is not planned to be sold in Europe. As for the Russian market, deliveries to us are also unlikely.
