The Indian company Mahindra has unveiled the most expensive and technologically advanced model in its current lineup – the XUV700 crossover, which is the successor to the XUV500 SUV.
For the Indian brand, the 700 is a watershed model. It even has a new model nameplate, which will be received by other crossovers and SUVs of the company in the future.
In terms of exterior design, the new Mahindra XUV700 is in many ways reminiscent of the XUV500 that lasted ten years on the assembly line. It has the same body proportions and similar sidewall relief with well-defined wheel arches.
But the design of the front of the novelty resembles Renault cars. In particular, the large navigation light brackets are almost the same as on the Arkana and Koleos crossovers.
Among other features of the Indian SUV, it is worth noting the presence of recessed door handles. As for the interior, the car got a single panel with visually combined tidy and multimedia system.
Note that in the basic version of the model, the speedometer and tachometer scales are analog, and between them there is a 7.0-inch display of the on-board computer. The multimedia is content with an 8.0-inch touchscreen with a massive frame.
The crossover in the more expensive AdrenoX configuration has two 10.25-inch screens, that is, its tidy is completely digital. It is reported that the model can be ordered with either two or three rows of seats.
Like the XUV500, the new Mahindra XUV700 features a monocoque structure and circular independent suspension. The length of the car reaches 4 695 mm (+ 110), and its wheelbase is 2 750 mm (+ 50). The width is declared at around 1,890 mm (unchanged), and the height is 1,755 mm (-30).
The XUV700 is powered by a 2.2-liter mHawk turbodiesel, which was also equipped with the “500”. This engine has been upgraded and produces 155 hp on the basic version of the crossover. (360 Nm), working in tandem with the mechanics.
On older versions, the performance of the unit reaches 185 forces (420 Nm), and the car can be ordered not only with mechanics, but also with a six-speed Aisin automatic machine. By the way, in the latter case, the motor torque will be 450 Nm.
An alternative is a 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine mStallion of its own design, the return of which reaches 200 “horses” (380 Nm). He can work both with mechanics and with an automatic machine.
Almost all versions of the XUV700 are front-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive is reserved for diesel cars with an automatic transmission. It is curious that the modes of the driving electronics of the crossover have rather funny, but uninformative names: Zip, Zap, Zoom and Custom.
The list of equipment for the initial version is represented by ABS and two airbags. The older performances also rely on ESP, and they can have seven airbags. For a surcharge, adaptive cruise control (for the first time on the models of the Indian brand), dual-zone climate control, all-round cameras, “leather” interior, panoramic roof, LED headlights and much more are available.
Sales of Mahindra XUV700 in India will begin in October 2021, and first dealers will have cars with manual transmissions, which will cost from 16 to 20 thousand dollars (from 1.17 to 1.47 million rubles at the current exchange rate), but the cost of cars with The automatic transmission has not yet been advertised.
