Skoda has unveiled the Enyaq iV electric crossover, which has become the second “green” model in the Czech brand’s lineup (the first is the Citigo-e iV compact hatchback).
The developers note that the name of the off-road vehicle comes from the Irish name “Enya”, which also means “source of life.” At the same time, the capital “E” here indicates the presence of an electric power plant, and the letter “q” is a relationship with other brand crossovers, the names of which also end with this letter (for example, Karoq and Kodiaq).
Compared to the previously presented Vision E and Vision iV concepts, the production version of the Skoda Enyaq iV 2021 has a traditional (not coupe-like) body, although there will still be a version with a sloping roof, but later.
Outside, the Czech electric crossover attracts attention with predatory LED headlights (matrix headlights are offered for a surcharge) and a decorative overlay located between them, imitating a “toothy” radiator grill. Interestingly, backlighting is also offered as an option for the latter.
The body of the novelty cannot boast of high streamlining – the aerodynamic drag coefficient of the model is 0.27. By default, the SUV is set on 18-inch stamped wheels, but in more expensive versions, the car is equipped with light-alloy rollers up to 21 ″ in diameter.
The interior of the electric crossover is exclusively two-row, while spaciousness and an absolutely flat floor are promised. The interior itself is made in a minimalistic style and can have several finishes. For example, the developers are ready to cover the seats with wool or a special material obtained from recycling plastic bottles. However, genuine leather processed with olive leaf extract is also available.
In the center of the front panel of the new Skoda Enyaq iV is a large multimedia system tablet. Depending on the configuration, the diagonal of the latter can be 10 or 13 inches. The entertainment complex itself has wireless support for Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink interfaces, and its functionality can be controlled using gestures. Plus, the voice assistant Laura is offered to passengers’ services.
The crossover flaunts the presence of a virtual device with a projection display and augmented reality complex. In addition, the list of equipment includes dual-zone climate control, leather multifunction steering wheel and digital radio DAB. Note that the car is equipped with a range of Simply Clever accessories, including an umbrella hidden in the driver’s door pocket and an ice scraper in the trunk.
At the start of sales, the SUV will be offered in the “Founders Edition” version, which will have a luminous radiator grill, as well as an aggressive body kit with 21-inch wheels and more expensive interior trim. In total, the Czechs will produce 1,985 of these machines (in honor of the year the company was founded).
In terms of dimensions, the new Skoda Enya iV body reaches a length of 4,649 mm, a wheelbase of 2,765, width – 1,879, height – 1,116, and the boot volume of the model is 585 liters. In Europe, the crossover can be ordered in five different versions, three of which are rear-wheel drive, that is, with one electric motor.
The basic version of the Enyaq 50 iV is reported to have a 148bhp electric motor. (220 Nm) and a 55 kWh battery. This option accelerates from zero to hundreds in 11.7 seconds, and its range reaches 340 kilometers (according to the WLTP cycle).
Next comes the Enyaq 60 iV with a 179 horsepower (310 Nm) electric motor and a 62 kWh battery. It accelerates to a hundred in 8.7 seconds, driving up to 390 km without recharging. The top rear-wheel drive version of the Enyaq 80 iV has a unit for 204 “horses” (310 Nm) and a battery for 82 kWh. It takes 8.5 seconds to accelerate from 0-100 km / h, and the cruising range is 510 km.
There are also two all-wheel drive modifications in the arsenal, which have a traction battery with a capacity of 82 kWh and can travel up to 460 km. The base here is the Skoda Enyaq 80x iV, the total output of the units of which reaches 265 hp. and 425 Nm. Such a SUV is capable of accelerating from zero to a hundred in 6.9 seconds.
The flagship in the face of the “charged” Enyaq RS iV develops 306 forces and 460 Nm of torque. It “shoots” from 0-100 km / h in 6.2 seconds, accelerating up to 180 km / h (for all others, the limit is 160 km / h). Plus, such an electric car is also capable of pulling a trailer weighing up to 1,400 kg, although for this the buyer will have to order an optional retractable electric towbar.
Interestingly, the developers have provided the ability to remotely control individual car functions from a smartphone. For example, an electric car can be parked, both parallel and perpendicular. Plus, the car was equipped with a pseudo-autopilot “Travel Assist” and a special assistant that helps to quickly go around an obstacle that suddenly appeared on the road.
In key European markets (for example, in Norway), the acceptance of orders for the new Skoda Enyaq iV has already begun – they ask for a crossover from 40,400 euros (3.5 million rubles at the current exchange rate).
