Top 5 Circuits From Car Carriers: Don’t Fall For The Bait

Autosuppliers are a fairly numerous “caste” of fraudsters. These criminals have learned to masterly “breed” legally illiterate and fearful of the possible consequences of drivers. The main tools of attackers are arrogance and a good knowledge of human psychology.

The main victims are lonely drivers in foreign cars, the elderly, newcomers with an exclamation mark on the back, women (especially with children). These categories of car owners are more susceptible to intimidation and suggestions to “fix the problem on the spot”.

Below we have selected the top 5 most common road divorce schemes. Read and at least informationally you will be armed against such scammers.

Dead zone

In this scheme, the criminals work in two cars. One is attached to the victim’s car in such a way as to get her into the “blind” zone of the rear-view mirrors.

The second one at this moment catches up from behind, forcing the driver to change lanes to the right – straight for a collision with the first car. Then everything is according to the scenario – a blow, a showdown, intimidation and attempts to resolve the issue “on the spot”.

Pedestrian simulator

This performance is usually staged in narrow, crowded streets, next to a pedestrian crossing. The scammers are waiting for the victim’s car to approach this crossing. At this moment, the car of criminals, parked near the “zebra”, abruptly leaves the road, forcing the driver to turn his attention to it in order to avoid an accident. And right there, a “pedestrian” suddenly appears at the crossing, who throws himself under the wheels, hits the hood with his hand and falls to the ground – as if he was knocked down.

Then a real performance is played out. The “pedestrian” depicts a serious injury, “witnesses” from the fraudsters immediately appear, as well as “experts” who intelligibly explain to the driver about the criminal responsibility for the downed person. If the criminals conduct everything “nicely”, then in such situations even experienced drivers are afraid to solve the incident “on the spot”, just to avoid further problems.

Roll back

One of the simplest and most rude, but, nevertheless, still working “auto layout”. The car of the criminals settles in front of the victim’s car and at the traffic lights backs up or rolls back on a hillock. Or it simply slows down sharply in the flow. Further – accusations of non-observance of the distance and subsequent showdowns.

The principle is simple: whoever is behind is guilty. Moreover, in the absence of a video recorder, it will be almost impossible to prove your case – even the police officers who arrived at the scene, not seeing other evidence, are likely to side with the scammers.

Parking near shopping centers

Parking spaces near supermarkets and shopping malls are the favorite habitats of car fraudsters. In tight and crowded passages, it is easy for a criminal to suddenly jump out and expose his car to a blow, in order to get quick compensation. In addition, in such parking lots they can easily rob.

Variants of parking theft scenarios are limited only by the imagination of intruders: here is a neighbor asking to show him the way, and a cute girl with a flat tire, and a piece of paper glued to the rear window. The task of all these tricks is only one – to distract the driver’s attention while valuable things and money are stolen from him from the passenger compartment. To catch such criminals “red-handed” is often simply impossible.

The pedestrian is invisible

This relatively new and therefore rather dangerous scheme is based on the same fear of drivers of hitting pedestrians. But there will be no pedestrian here – instead of him, two cars with swindlers are involved in the “divorce”.

From the first car, a heavy object is thrown into the back of the victim’s car, and immediately the pursuit begins. The criminals catch up with the driver and begin to prove that he hit a man and escaped. At the same moment, a second car drives up, in which, of course, there are “witnesses” – and the pressure increases. Even if the driver tries to leave, fraudsters may not let him go in “righteous anger” until they wait for “compensation”.

What to do?

There are several general rules of conduct for drivers caught up in an “auto divorce”. The most important thing is to stay cool and not succumb to the terms of the scammers. Call the police immediately and, if necessary, an ambulance. If the criminals exert strong pressure, lock yourself in the car.

You can show the intruders the video recorder (if there is one), but this should be done very carefully – after all, this is almost the only piece of evidence in favor of the victim and it is necessary to save it until the police arrive.

If the driver does not give in to panic and does everything right, and even has proof of his innocence in his hands, the criminals will most likely retreat even before the police arrive. And in this case, there is even a chance to bring them to justice for leaving the accident site.
