Along with its closest competitors, Toyota has prepared a whole scattering of concepts and new models for the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show. Naturally, the leitmotif of all premieres is low emissions and high fuel efficiency.
One of the main novelties was the compact version of the popular hybrid hatchback Prius, which acquired the letter “C” in the name. In terms of its dimensions, the novelty is close to the Yaris model. At the same time, the design of the new Toyota Prius C is completely original and has nothing to do with either its “big brother” or with other models of the company.
It is noteworthy that in the domestic market in Japan, this model is sold as Toyota Aqua. The car was equipped with a hybrid installation consisting of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and a small electric motor. The variator is selected as the main transmission. What power such a power plant produces is not reported, but Toyota representatives assure that fuel consumption does not exceed 2.9 liters per 100 kilometers.
In addition to the Toyota Prius S / Aqua, the Japanese auto giant showed at the home auto show a production version of the rear-wheel drive sports coupe Toyota FT-86, the FCV-R concept sedan, the electric version of the “baby” iQ and the most futuristic concept Fun-Vii.
Updated Prius C 2018
In early 2017, Toyota updated the Prius C hybrid compact hatchback. The exterior of the car has become noticeably more aggressive, while the Japanese have also improved the safety of the car by expanding the basic equipment.
The updated Toyota Prius C 2018-2019 has a kind of splitter on the front bumper. The rear bumper has also undergone changes, and black glossy inserts appeared in the hatchback body kit. Note that already in the base the car has light-alloy wheels.
The Toyota Safety Sense-C package has been added to the list of equipment of the model, consisting of a frontal collision avoidance system, a lane departure warning system and an automatic high beam switching function. There are also nine airbags by default, climate control and a multimedia system with a touchscreen.
The updated Toyota Prius C 2021 is still driven by a power plant consisting of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, an electric motor, a variator and a battery pack. The total power of the units is 99 hp, and the hybrid requires about 5.0 liters of fuel per 100 km of run.
