The car has become wider, which is reflected in the comfort in the cabin. Now, even from the back seat, I can’t get my bag, although the length of the car has decreased slightly, but the interior for some reason has increased both in width and in length.
I like the finish of the side doors – unusual, but it looks good. The seats are slightly changed and have curved sides, which gives additional comfort when driving – on the old Rafik, pains in the back and cervical spine began during a long ride, while in the new one there are no such sensations, as the chairs seem to keep the back in a comfortable position.

The 2.0-liter engine assumes a leisurely drive (for the city, of course, it is quite enough), spins up at acceleration up to 3-4 thousand rpm (although it spins up quickly and with a howling sound). Sometimes the same effect is felt with a sharp increase in speed (again, this was not the case before).

Upset by the ergonomics of the cabin. It is difficult to hit the steering wheel heating buttons for a flight, and it is difficult to reach the right row of keys on the monitor. The new body of the new generation Toyota RAV 4 2021 is based on the TNGA K platform, while high-strength steel grades are actively used in its power structure.
The car also boasts a fully independent suspension with transverse stabilizers: MacPherson struts are installed in the front, and a multi-link layout is applied at the rear. Disc brakes are installed on all wheels of the SUV, but they are also ventilated at the front.
Interestingly, the basic 4WD versions use an all-wheel drive transmission with a clutch for connecting the rear axle, while the most expensive versions rely on the proprietary Dynamic Vectoring AWD system. The latter is characterized by the presence of two individual clutches on the rear wheels, which allowed the Japanese to implement thrust vector control.

- The version with a variator can be ordered with both front and all-wheel drive, however, in both cases, the RAV 4 will be able to accelerate from 0-100 km / h in 11.0 seconds (the maximum speed is the same 190 km / h).
- More expensive versions of the new model are equipped with a 2.5-liter engine with 199 forces and 243 Nm of torque. Such a motor works in tandem with an eight-speed automatic, and the drive is already complete in the database. Up to a hundred of this modification is capable of accelerating in 8.5 seconds, and its speed limit is 200 kilometers per hour.
Compared to the fourth generation model, the suspension on the new 2020 Toyota RAV 4 has become noticeably more comfortable: with a quiet ride, travel along the joints of the roadway is practically not felt even on wheels of maximum (19 ″) diameter. Of course, as the speed increases, the car still begins to shake, however, painful breakdowns are not observed even on large pits with sharp edges.
As for handling, the car reacts quite briskly to the driver’s actions, and when passing sharp turns it shows moderate rolls for this class of cars. It is interesting that the version with a two-liter engine obeys the steering best of all, while on the older modification the steering wheel is somewhat “viscous”, which is especially noticeable in the near-zero zone.
The world premiere of the fifth generation Toyota RAV4 crossover took place at the March 2018 New York International Motor Show. At first, the model debuted in Europe and the USA, and arrived in Russia with a delay, while the production of cars for our market was localized at a Japanese brand plant in St. Petersburg.

Toyota RAV 4 2021 in a new body is a bestseller in the lineup of the Japanese brand, so many were surprised by the automaker’s decision to radically change the design of the fifth generation crossover. The new model has become noticeably more aggressive than its predecessor, which is especially noticeable on the front of the car.
The “face” of the SUV is formed by predatory LED optics and a hexagonal frameless radiator grille. The front bumper draws attention to itself with large side sections with round foglights, and its central air intake is again in the shape of a hexagon.
The silhouette of an off-road vehicle is characterized by the presence of angular wheel arches, which are also covered with protective linings made of unpainted plastic. The car has embossed sidewalls and partially blackened rear pillars, due to which the effect of a “floating” roof is achieved. At the stern of the new RAV 4, narrow lanterns with a boomerang pattern and a sculpted bumper with a trapezoidal stamping under the license plate are installed.
The interior of the model is uncomplicated, while the front panel has a strict design with a stylized “aluminum” plastic decor. In the center sticks out a tablet of the Enture 3.0 multimedia system with a diagonal of 7.0 or 8.0 inches (depending on the configuration), and immediately below it is a compact climate control unit with two twists.
At the driver’s service is a plump three-spoke multifunction steering wheel and an elegant tidy. Note that in the initial versions between the analog scales of the latter there is a 4.2-inch screen of the on-board computer, and in the more expensive versions there is a 7.0-inch.
The seats in the initial “Standard” and “Comfort” trim levels lack lumbar support adjustment, but their fabric upholstery is somewhat nicer than the older versions of artificial leather. But the chairs in the latter are electrified, and the lower back can be propped up with a movable roller. Regardless of the selected configuration, the seats have sufficient, but unobtrusive lateral support.
The second row is spacious, and compared to its predecessor, the increase in free space in the legs was 5 cm at once. A standard three-seater sofa is used to accommodate passengers. The automaker reports that the latter has the ability to adjust the angle of the backrest, but it will not work to fold the latter back and recline.
Soundproofing in the new 2021 Toyota RAV4 is a cut above its predecessor, but after 100 km / h, you still don’t have to count on silence in the cabin: the wind whistle and the engine working in the sweat of the brow will not give a whistle to talk without raising their voices.
