Toyota presented the new (fourth in a row) generation Sienna minivan, the design of which was developed by the specialists of the American division of the brand.
At the front, the new 2021 Toyota Sienna features a wide, blackened grille with horizontal slats and predatory headlights. Sculptural sidewalls and muscular wheel arches give the minivan a lean and snappy silhouette. Stylish fanged lanterns are installed at the stern, between which the name of the model flaunts.
Interestingly, the Sienna looks most impressive in the “sport” configuration of the XSE, which is characterized by the presence of a fine-mesh radiator grille, other bumpers and 20-inch alloy wheels (instead of the standard 18-inch ones).
The main feature of the car’s interior is a high central tunnel, at the lower level of which there is a spacious niche for luggage. In terms of equipment, the model is based on a modern multimedia system with a 9.0-inch touchscreen. The complex supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa interfaces.
In the dashboard combination there is a 7.0-inch on-board computer display, which provides information on the operation of the hybrid system, as well as various background information. The initial trim levels (LE and XLE) have an eight-seater saloon, while the second row has a standard three-seater sofa.
Older versions (XSE, Limited and Platinum) have seven seats with separate seats in the middle, and the latter even have retractable ottomans. The top performance Platinum additionally boasts the presence of all-round cameras, a projection display and a refrigerator.
The new body of the Toyota Sienna 2020-2021 is built on the basis of the GA-K modular platform. The minivan is offered exclusively with a hybrid power plant, which is based on a 2.5-liter four-cylinder aspirated with 189 hp. The latter drives the front wheels, and an electric motor and an electromechanical variator help it. The total installation of the installation reaches 246 forces.
In addition, the car can be ordered in an all-wheel drive version. In this case, the Japanese will install another electric motor on the rear axle. At the same time, none of the variants of the model received the ability to recharge the battery from the household power supply.
There are four driving presets for the car: EV (only electric traction is used), Eco (the output of the power plant is artificially limited to achieve maximum efficiency), Normal and the most productive Sport. Combined fuel consumption is claimed at 7.1 L / 100 km, but this is the front-wheel drive variant, while the 4WD version will definitely be more voracious.
Responsible for safety are 10 airbags (in the base) and a complex of electronic assistants Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, which includes adaptive cruise control and a collision avoidance system with pedestrian recognition. The start of sales of Toyota Sienna 4 in the North American market is scheduled for the end of the twentieth year, prices will be announced later.
