Car a year, took a new KIA Ceed SW in the salon of an authorized dealer. At the moment, I drove 8,000 km and made the first MOT. In my opinion, by design, it is the most beautiful station wagon in this class and price segment.
After changing the factory caps, the appearance has become even more attractive. The ground clearance is much higher than on the previous version – now you can safely drive up to the curbs and not be afraid for the front bumper.
Review of KIA Ceed SW 1.6 (128 HP) manual transmission 2020
The sound insulation in the car is not very good – it needs to be improved: all the sounds from the wheels penetrate into the cabin, regardless of which road you are driving, but the engine is practically inaudible. The multimedia is poor, and I don’t like the protruding screen in the center.
I will change the media system for something more expensive and of high quality, now I manage with a tablet. The sound is average, not for music lovers, in normal mode you can listen to the weather forecast, but not music.
But in the cabin I like the finish – good soft upholstery, small parts are made with high quality. For a year, nothing peeled off and fell off, there were no crickets, there were no knocks – that means that everything inside was screwed on with high quality. I will change the door lining to leatherette or eco-leather, the textiles turned out to be very easily soiled, I have already cleaned it twice from stains and streaks.
Convenient and roomy trunk, enough nets, niches, the spare wheel goes under the floor and is attached to the bracket, you can also put a repair kit there – very convenient. If you fold out the back sofa, you get a great sleepover for two adults.
I have a version with a 1.6-liter engine and a manual transmission, a reliable and proven tandem, but the engine’s thrust is clearly not enough – it is felt when driving uphill. To quickly accelerate from a traffic light is also problematic, the dynamics is average, if I took an automatic transmission, it would be even worse – this engine is very sad on the automatic transmission.
Grip, pedal response, and speed shifting are excellent, especially noticeable when standing downhill at traffic lights. But it will be difficult for beginners to use such mechanics, because from such a position you can get a rollback and not find your way in time.
The suspension on the KIA Ceed SW is tuned very decently – neither hard nor too soft. A multi-link is installed at the back, so when crossing railway tracks and difficult edges, you have to slow down strongly, you can get a lumbago.
It is pleasant to drive a station wagon on the track: it does not throw, listens to the steering wheel from the slightest touch, but the motor could have been pulled. In general, I am satisfied with the car, I did not reveal any problems after the first 8,000 km of run – all systems work clearly and harmoniously, there is no oil scraper, the consumption is adequate – no more than 8 liters in the city.
