The added traction and engine power add up to improved dynamics. The car does not dull under a traffic light, easily accelerates when overtaking, and generally reacts briskly when I press the gas pedal. Interestingly, it was possible to squeeze additional horsepower out of the motor with the previous volume of 2,700 cubes. If you want to jump on hills and ravines, then you need to stock up on mud rubber. Factory for these purposes is not suitable from the word at all.

High ground clearance and body geometry allow you to drive up steep hills, easily slip through deep potholes, and in general ride where there has never been asphalt. The engine power in the new UAZ Pickup quite allows it. By the way, before the engine was the weakest link, because it simply did not fit the characteristics for installation in an SUV. I liked the interior, especially the rear seats – they can be folded back and put a bunch of everything. A couple of times on the winter road I spent the night in the car – the interior was warm, but I had to fiddle with the ventilation, because either the windshield would tighten, or the side windows.
According to the dynamics of the UAZ Pickup, it is stupid (compared to the Patriot of 2012). I thought it would roll out, but the miracle did not work. On the other hand, the loaded one walks both on the rails at the same speed both uphill and downhill. However, driving at 90 km / h is not comfortable – it yells at 3000 rpm.

Why pickup? A split box is convenient! For a farm, this is generally a nice thing: I loaded grain into it, no dust in the cabin, everything is neat and closed. If you went to rest, then all things with a tent and other equipment are placed in the cargo area.
Already I went to Altai, before leaving, I filled a full tank under the neck, reset the odometer and set off. The track to Kemerovo is just horror, the speed is 90-120 km / h, the lane is one, the trucks are one by one, so that when overtaking the tachometer turned up to 4,000 – 4,500 rpm. Gasoline was enough for 403 km, that is, 12 liters per 100 km of aggressive driving. For a car weighing two tons, this is normal.

In January of the twentieth, we got a new UAZ Pickup. The comfort is slightly higher than the lowest, since the razdatka uazovskaya on the lever, which rattles along the highway, is simply awful (with long-distance trips, the head starts to hurt right before the exit). The dealer says that this is the norm for these cars – get used to it. On the plus side, of course, I will take the cross-country ability – the car crawls like a tank in the snow, it doesn’t really care where to go (well, within reason).

The new 2021 UAZ Pickup body is built on the basis of a powerful frame and has a dependent suspension on both axles, and at the front it is spring-loaded with an anti-roll bar, and at the rear – on two longitudinal semi-elliptical low-leaf springs. The front brakes are disc brakes, and the rear ones are drum brakes.

The pickup’s cargo area is 1,400 x 1,500 mm with a side height of 650 mm. Its volume in the open form is equal to 1,400 liters, and in the closed (with a box) – 2,700 liters. The fuel tank of the model is designed for 68 liters. The curb weight of the truck varies from 2,070 to 2,135 kg, depending on the selected configuration.
- The most affordable version of the UAZ Patriot Pickup is a 2.7-liter ZMZ-40906 gasoline engine with 135 hp. and 217 Nm. It works in conjunction with uncontested five-speed mechanics. Unfortunately, the automaker does not advertise data on acceleration from zero to hundreds, although the maximum modification speed is known – 140 km / h.
- All other pickup options are equipped with a ZMZ-409051 engine of the same volume for 150 “mares” and 235 Nm of torque. Cars with such a motor can be equipped with both the aforementioned mechanics and a six-speed automatic. Regardless of the choice of the gearbox, the maximum speed of such cars is the same 140 kilometers per hour.
UAZ Patriot Pickup 2021 model year is a highly passable utility truck, which is frankly cramped in the city, and there is clearly a lack of dynamics on the highway, which, coupled with mediocre feedback, kills all driving pleasure.
But outside the asphalt UAZ Pickup feels like a fish in water. He not only easily drives along loose dirt roads, but also easily storms fords up to half a meter deep, and also drives into hills strewn with cobblestones.
Unfortunately, the geometric cross-country ability of the Pickup is slightly worse than that of the related Patriot, and the clearance at the level of 220-230 mm would certainly not hurt such a “rogue”, since the 210 mm declared by the manufacturer is not enough everywhere, and in some areas the car beats with a gearbox against stones, effectively carving sparks.
Another drawback that cannot be ignored is high fuel consumption. Even on an empty highway, the car often “eats” up to 12 liters per 100 km, and off-road appetites grow up to 15-17 liters.
Overview (exterior and interior)
Like most other budget trucks, the 2021 UAZ Patriot Pickup has a strict and unremarkable appearance. At the front, there is a fine-mesh radiator grille with chrome edging and a large brand emblem in the center. The car is equipped with halogen headlights and round foglights located in the side sections of the faceted front bumper.
The silhouette of the pickup is uncomplicated, but the rustic chopped lines, as well as the puffy wheel arches form a rather brutal look. At the stern of the truck, there are simple vertical shades of lamps and a tailgate of the cargo area, at the bottom of which there is also a throwable steel pipe designed to “compensate” for the absence of rear parking sensors.
The salon of the new UAZ Pickup 2021 model year turned out to match the appearance of the car: everything is as simple and budgetary as possible, which is especially noticeable in the chubby front panel made of hard plastic, which is practically devoid of any decor.
In high-end trims, a 7.0-inch multimedia screen sits on top of the center console, flanked by ventilation deflectors, and below you can see a climate control unit with two twists. The database does not have all this, and the interior of such an option is truly Spartan.
Landing in the UAZ Pickup is “bus”, while the handrails on the doorways, which appeared during one of the latest updates, are designed to simplify access to the high saloon. The front seats may seem a little harsh, and their lateral support rollers are poorly developed.
In turn, the three-seater rear sofa has a vertical back, which makes the fit not particularly comfortable, but heating is offered for it, and its central section leans forward, forming an armrest with cup holders.
Separately, it is worth noting a simple and well-readable tidy, which at the same time has a very mediocre on-board computer. The latter is “embarrassed” to show the average fuel consumption, but it displays a dynamic range, which jumps like crazy, confusing the driver with its readings.
UAZ Pickup was first presented to the public in the fall of 2008, while later the model underwent two major restyling (in 2014 and 2016).
Note that in addition to the mentioned restyling, UAZ Pickup has gone through many small updates. The most significant of them fell on two thousand and eighteenth, when the truck underwent the same metamorphoses as its “brother” Patriot.
