Ford has unveiled updated versions of the 2020 Galaxy and S-Max minivans for the European market. During the restyling, the Americans slightly changed the appearance of the cars and revised their equipment.
The ST-Line package received a radiator grille with enlarged honeycomb cells. The same applies to the luxurious version of Vignale, which is now available not only for the Ford S-Max, but also for the full-size Galaxy, and in its upper part the Americans have additionally installed a “floating” nameplate in the form of the letter “V”.
These versions also received blackened decors, while on the Trend and Titanium versions, the radiator grille trim and fog light inserts are made of bright chrome. Plus, the restyled minivans have new wheels. The Ford S-Max ST-Line now has two-tone 15-spoke 18 “wheels, while the Galaxy Titanium has two-tone 20-spoke 17” wheels.
There are not many updates in the interior of cars, and most of them are relevant only for top versions. In particular, the 2020 Ford Galaxy Vignale received a richer interior trim, where the dashboard visor and center console are additionally covered with gray stitching leather. The interior additionally flaunts aluminum décor, and the list of equipment includes a heated steering wheel and aluminum pedals.
The multicontour front seats with 18-way electrically adjustable, heated, ventilated and massage are now available not only for the top version of the Vignale – for a surcharge, they can also be ordered for more affordable car trim levels.
During the restyling, the list of equipment for Ford Galaxy and S-Max 2020 included a Wi-Fi hotspot, and as an option, the FordPass Connect system is offered, which allows the owner to remotely find out information about the car, as well as control its individual functions using a special smartphone application (for example, lock / unlock doors and check the current fuel level).
Plus, the minivans received the Local Hazard system, which provides the driver with information about potentially dangerous situations along the route, which relies on satellite navigation data and information from emergency services when operating.
Of the gasoline engines for the new 2020 Ford Galaxy and S-Max, only the 1.5-liter EcoBoost turbo four with 165 hp is offered, while the 2.0-liter EcoBlue turbo diesel can be ordered in one of three boost options : for 150, 190 and 240 forces.
Gasoline cars, as well as the most affordable diesel versions, rely on a six-speed manual, while more expensive versions come with an eight-speed automatic. The drive is front-wheel drive by default, while the all-wheel drive transmission is available only for 190-horsepower modifications with automatic transmission.
Acceptance of orders for the updated Ford S-Max and Galaxy in Europe has already started – the prices for the restyled minivans start at 33,000 and 35,000 euros, respectively. Recall that the manufacturer has curtailed its activities in Russia, so no delivery of such machines is planned to us. In addition, the demand for these models is falling in the Old World, so that after a few years the production of vans will be discontinued, and they will not receive successors.
