At the end of the summer of the twenty-first year, the Americans introduced the updated Lincoln Navigator 2022 SUV, which is the manufacturer’s flagship model. Before us is a restyling of the fourth generation car, which debuted in two thousand seventeenth.
Compared to the pre-reform version, the new Lincoln Navigator 2022 model year has got retouched bumpers, narrower taillights with a three-dimensional effect, decorative overlays on the sidewalls, new head optics (in the base is a matrix) and an enlarged radiator grille.
The grille itself is still distinguished by a special mesh, the honeycomb of which resembles the shape of the brand’s emblem, and fashionable rims in design suggest associations with turbine blades. As before, the SUV is offered in two versions – the standard length of the car is 5.3 meters, but if the L version is 5.6 meters long.
In the base, the Lincoln Navigator 4 has three rows of seats in the cabin, the latter is equipped with an electric folding drive, and the central one has not only heating and ventilation, but also acquired a massage function for the first time in the class. In general, the car flaunts high-quality finishing materials and boasts excellent sound insulation.
The dashboard in the car is virtual (12.0 ″ on the display), while after restyling the SUV got a new multimedia system Sync 4 with a large 13.2-inch widescreen instead of the previous ten-inch one. There is an update function “over the air”, and the improved voice assistant learned to recognize spoken speech.
In the cabin of the Lincoln Navigator 2022, you can count as many as 11 places for recharging gadgets (six USB ports, four 12-volt sockets and another 110 V). The middle row optionally provides two separate chairs with a wide armrest between them with a built-in 5.8-inch touchscreen to control separate climate and music.
For a surcharge for rear passengers, the installation of two 10.0-inch screens is also provided, while from the head unit you can control what exactly is displayed on the tablets. Note that about 20% of Navigator buyers choose its most expensive version “Black Label” with rich interior trim in natural leather and wood veneer.
This version now additionally offers new combinations of finishing materials under the names “Central Park” and “Invitation”, and the total number has grown from the previous three to four. Particularly worth noting are the front seats with a “breaking” backrest – in this version, they are provided with almost 30 parameters for settings.
Recall that the current Lincoln Navigator 4 is a frame SUV, based on the chassis from the Ford F-150 pickup, and it itself is a luxurious version of the simpler Ford Expedition. The body of this model is almost entirely made of aluminum, however, in the base it still weighs about 2.5 tons.
Under the hood, there is an uncontested 3.5-liter EcoBoost petrol V6 with two turbines, which develops 446 hp. and 691 Nm of torque. It is paired with a ten-band automatic transmission, while the drive is rear-mounted by default, while an all-wheel drive transmission with a downshift is offered for a surcharge.
Independent spring suspension on restyling has become adaptive: the stiffness of the shock absorbers is automatically adjusted by the electronics based on data received from the front camera “Road Preview”, which reads the terrain in front of the car while driving. Another major innovation is the Lincoln ActiveGlide system.
The latter is an advanced adaptive cruise control capable of keeping the car in the occupied lane, automatically braking to a full stop and moving off again, as well as reading road signs and adhering to the speed limit. The driver can take his hands off the steering wheel, but must continue to monitor the road – an electronics with a camera in the front panel monitors the position of the eyes.
The price of the new Lincoln Navigator 2022 starts at $ 77,000, and for the Black Label version they ask for $ 99,000, the start of sales in the States is scheduled for the beginning of the twenty-second. Note that by the end of the twentieth year, the model is inferior to its main competitor in the person of Cadillac Escalade, which over the specified period found 25,000 buyers overseas versus 15,000 who chose Navigator.
