The new 7th generation Volkswagen Golf was presented in September 2012 at the Paris Motor Show, and within a year it has acquired many different modifications, including a station wagon, “hot” and “charged” versions, as well as the economical BlueMotion.
And at the motor show in Frankfurt, an all-electric version of the hatchback called the e-Golf debuted. It is equipped with a 115-horsepower electric motor that develops a maximum torque of 270 Nm, which is transmitted to the wheels of the front axle through a single-stage transmission.
This engine provides Volkswagen e-Golf (2015-2016) acceleration from zero to hundreds in 10.4 seconds (from 0 to urban 60 km / h in 4.2 seconds), and the maximum speed is limited at around 140 kilometers per hour. … The range from a full battery charge varies from 130 to 190 km, depending on driving conditions.
The batteries are lithium-ion batteries located under the floor. Their weight is 318 kg (the mass of an electric vehicle with batteries is 1,510 kg), and it takes 13 hours to fully recharge from a household network. However, when using a special fast charging system, 80% of the capacity is replenished in half an hour.
Externally, the electric VW e-Golf can be distinguished by a different front bumper with different fog lights, a blue stripe on the radiator grill, Astana rims and LED head optics and taillights.
The standard equipment of the model includes automatic climate control, navigation system, heated windshield stack and a leather steering wheel. The price of the Volkswagen e-Golf is not named, but for the subcompact electric e-Up! in Germany they ask for a minimum of 26,900 euros. Sales of new items started in the spring of 2014.
Updated Volkswagen e-Golf 2017
At the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, Volkswagen has unveiled the updated electric e-Golf. Among the key features of the new items are the increased power reserve and more powerful technical stuffing.
The Germans have increased the capacity of lithium-ion batteries from 24.2 to 35.8 kWh, and now the electric car is able to travel up to 200 km without recharging, which is 50 kilometers more than the pre-styling version of the model.
It takes less than six hours for the new e-Golf to replenish the battery energy from a conventional electric “refueling”. At the same time, for the top configurations of the model, a quick charging system is offered, with which the batteries can be charged from 0 to 80% in about one hour.
The updated Volkswagen e-Golf 2017-2018 is driven by an electric motor that develops 134 hp. and 290 Nm. This is 19 “horses” and 20 Nm of torque more than the pre-reform version. This “filling” allows the hatchback to accelerate from zero to hundreds in 9.6 seconds (- 1.0). The maximum speed is limited to 150 km / h.
The list of equipment of the new items includes adaptive cruise control, a frontal collision warning system with the ability to recognize pedestrians, as well as emergency braking systems and keeping the car in a given lane.
In addition, the electric Volkswagen e-Golf 2017 received a 9.2-inch touchscreen multimedia system that supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink and gesture control. There is no information about the date of the start of sales and the price of the model yet.
