Volkswagen has unveiled the third model of its electric ID family. The new product, titled “ID.6”, is a crossover designed exclusively for the Chinese market.
Interestingly, the electric car was shown in two versions at once – ID.6 Crozz and ID.6 X. Outside, cars can be recognized from each other by different bumpers, headlights, lights and decor. Car wheels can be from 19 to 21 inches in diameter.
The interior layout of the VW ID.6 Crozz and ID.6 X is the same as on the “junior” ID-models of the German brand. Each of them again has a number of unique features: crossovers differ from each other in the shape of the front panel and ventilation deflectors.
There are practically no physical buttons in the electric car, and all secondary functions are controlled from the 12.0-inch touchscreen of the multimedia system. A head-up display can be ordered as an option.
Both variations of the model already have a third row in the database, while they can be ordered with either seven or six seats. In the first case, a three-seater three-section sofa is installed in the middle row, and in the second – two separate “captain’s” chairs. Note that in any case, the second row also has an adjustment in the longitudinal direction.
The 2021 Volkswagen ID.6 is built on the MEB platform, familiar from other models in the ID line. This means that the electric crossover uses MacPherson struts in the front, and a multi-link in the back. Plus, this “cart” is characterized by the presence of drum brakes on the rear axle.
As for the dimensions, the new product reaches 4,891 mm in length, 1,852 mm in width, and 1,679 mm in height. The distance between its axes is declared at the level of 2,965 millimeters.
The basic rear-wheel drive version of the model can be equipped with an electric motor with 180 or 204 hp. The more expensive all-wheel drive version of 4Motion has two engines, which give a total of 305 forces. It is reported that such a car is capable of accelerating from zero to hundreds in 6.6 seconds, while the maximum speed is electronically limited to 160 km / h.
The electric crossover can be ordered with a traction battery with a capacity of 58 or 77 kWh, while, depending on the engine, the range of the model varies from 436 to 588 km (according to the outdated NEDC cycle). Of the available options, it is worth noting the adaptive suspension DCC, as well as the adaptive cruise control Travel Assist, which has a lane hold function.
It is known that the FAW-VW JV, located in the north of China, will be engaged in the release of the VW ID.6 Crozz model, while the assembly of the VW ID.6 X is entrusted to the SAIC-VW JV located in the south of the country. Both versions will debut in the Middle Kingdom market in the summer of 2021, but prices have not yet been announced.
