Why Is The Version For Europe Much More Expensive Than The Russian One?

Although Renault developed the Arkana cross-coupe specifically for Russia, it was immediately known that over time this model would appear in Europe. The long-awaited debut of the off-road vehicle in the Old World market took place in March 2021, that is, two and a half years after its world premiere.

It is interesting that the European version of the model turned out to be much more expensive than the Russian one. For example, German dealers of the French brand ask for a car at least 27,850 euros (2.46 million rubles at the current exchange rate), while the cost of the top version with the RS Line package even exceeds the € 35,000 mark (3.1 million rub).

Such a high cost of the Arcana is due to the fact that the version for Europe has a number of fundamental differences from the Russian version of the model and, in fact, is an analogue of the Korean Samsung XM3.

The equipment of such a car is noticeably richer: the cabin has a digital dashboard, a vertically oriented multimedia system touchscreen and a steering wheel with paddle shifters.

Plus, the “European” has adaptive cruise control, monitoring of “blind” zones, a lane control system, an automatic braking function and an electromechanical parking brake.

In addition, Renault Arkana for the European market is built on the more modern CMF-B platform, and the range of power units available to it consists exclusively of TCe turbo engines and the E-Tech hybrid.

The crossover can be ordered with a 1.33-liter “turbo four” for 140 or 160 hp. This motor is powered by an EDC preselective robot and a 12-volt lithium-ion battery located under the front passenger seat.

In turn, the power plant of the hybrid versions of the model is identical to that of the Clio E-Tech. Consequently, it consists of a 1.6-liter aspirated with 92 hp, a 49-horsepower electric motor and a three-shaft gearbox without clutch and synchronizers.

According to the French, up to 80% of city trips in such a car can take place without starting the internal combustion engine. The drive of the European SUV is exclusively front-wheel drive, while the model on the Russian market can also be ordered with an all-wheel drive transmission.

Note that such Arcana are assembled at the Renault Samsung plant, that is, the supply of cars to Europe will be carried out from South Korea. This is another reason for the higher cost of the SUV.
